April 2009
Hi Everyone,
Best wishes to you for 2009! (Better late than never!)
Here we are in April already, and this is our first letter of 2009. Sorry to all of you who have asked what is happening and when will you get info on our latest specials etc.
The New Year has certainly started off with a bit of a bumpy ride given the state of the economy. A few weeks ago we went to the assistance of a neighbour after a freak lightning bolt set fire to their lodge. Although the damage was quite severe, the fire was brought under control relatively quickly and the damage was limited to only a portion of their accommodation units. The power of nature is an awesome thing and we are reminded to never underestimate the damage that can be done.
Lama Lama’s Bush Chapel has been quite busy, Hosting regular weddings and Church Services.
We successfully hosted our first small bush Wedding in November. It was all hands on deck to get everything ready and lots of prayers that the weather would hold. Luckily for us we had sunny blue skies and no rain!. After the ceremony held at our bush site, the bridal couple together with their friends and family got to dance the night away under the stars in our Lapa.
At one stage the groom’s parents (from the Isle of Wight, and on their first trip to SA) were spotted sitting at the edge of the pool enjoying the cool waters. Clive, with his usual lack of tact, asked what they were thinking and was told…”if there is a heaven on earth, this must be close to it” ……….. we like to think so!
We had a wonderful Christmas/New Year period here at the Lodge with the return of many old friends. Our animal babies have been bountiful this year and we have lots of newcomers bouncing (...yes, the baby impala and blesbuck literally bounce) around the bushveld. We also welcomed a new human baby addition to the WagonDrift family, nicknamed Baby WagonDrift, or Palesa (which means “Flower”). She arrived a few weeks early surprising everyone. Mom, Patricia and baby Palesa are both doing well.
Valentine’s and Easter weekends were full once again, and our guests were able to enjoy some great weather. This is a really nice time of the year so if you haven’t made plans yet, get in touch with us. Better yet - think about taking a longer break - for those working, you can enjoy a 10 day break from the 24/04 to 03/05 for the cost of only 3 days annual leave. We are celebrating this fact by offering a 33.3% off our normal rates for anyone who stays at WagonDrift for 7 night’s or more. Call us for a quote.
Nothing restores the soul like a trip to the bush……….so if you feel in need of some spoiling you know what to do.
All the best from Clive & Sharon, Des & Muriel, Cyril & Phyllis, and Ruby |
